In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Frame 3
Frame 4
I have chosen this frame becasue having shots of the characters to the side gives a more varitey of shot type for the audience as seeing the characters from the same angle can make the audience be bored and uninterested of the music video. Most RnB genres have different types of shots of their characters to give the audience different angles to look at, in order to get them more involved.
Frame 5
The frame of the split screen is a massive convention in RnB a lot of artist use this kind of effect because it enables the audience to see more then one image on the screen and is a good idea to use when two characters are having a conversation on the phone. I chose this frame because I like the fact that we used a split screen because it allows the audience to see the facial expressions of both of the characters when they are talking to each other and this lets the audience know through their facial expressions what they are, each feeling and thinking and how they are reacting to what one another is saying.
Frame 6
A lot of RnB music videos use a lot of shot types, the reason why I chose this frame is because it gives the audience an overall view of the location, the two main characters and an idea of what might happen, just from the positioning of the shot. I think this goes completely with the conventions of the RnB genre as the main conventions often feature bright lighting, a male and female and a different angle, so the way we framed the shot made it very interesting and revealing to the audience because they didn't just see the actors they also could see the whole location and what kind of weather it was on that day, which was the whole point.
Frame 7
The frame of our main character on the bus challenges the conventions of our genre because not often do we see an RnB artist singing on a bus they are often in a studio singing with a dance rountine especially 'Beyonce'. The reason why I chose this frame is because we challenge the convention of it, by having her sing on the bus as we had a story line, I think this went more with our music video because in a way it was unpredictable as most people expect her to be singing in a studio with a dance rountine, so it gave the audience a surprise.
Frame 8
The frame of the characters playing in the park was chosen because often in this genre they don't feature this kind of setting and location in a park, as most of the time the location and acting is the artist dancing, singing etc.... but the reason for this frame was to show that the characters are full of joy, are young and free and just basically having fun. We wanted to show this because it followed our story line and also makes the audience chill out and have fun with the characters.
Frame 9
Often in RnB music videos they show a phone or ipod which starts the beginning of the song and shows the songs name and artist. The reason why I chose this frame is because I think it was a really effective and great idea and makes our music video look professional as it gives the audience more shots to see in the video instead of always seeing the characters. So using this shot grabs the audience back in after a long introduction to our song.

Frame 1
The reasons why I have chosen this frame is because this kind of effect has become a convention of the RnB genre. So within this frame we have used the conventions of the genre as it gives a very interesting and exciting effect to the music video. The reasons why it makes it interesting is because it gives the audience a chance to see more then one image in one part of the video, as it goes with the tempo of the song. Our song is very fast tempo and we wanted to add an effect that will allow us to pack a number of images at the same time keeping to the tempo of the music, so after researching Drake 'headlines' we found this kind of effect and used the crop tool to make it work. I think this frame is very eye catchy and really gets the audience in the tempo and mood of the song.
Frame 2
The reason why I have chosen the second frame of the sun is because although the RnB genre doesn't often have a natural theme to it, we decided to challenege this convention becasue of the storyline we had in our music video. I think it gives a nice, dreamy effect to the music video as most of the audience wouldn't expect this from a RnB video especially because our song has a very fast pace to it. I also chose this frame because it is a nice simple shot of the sun and we didn't have to do any further editing on it as the camerawork was very good, and it went very well with the lyrics of the song. It also gave a natural effect to the video, which was a nice, relaxing part to watch.
Frame 3
The reason why I have chosen this frame is becasue having subtitles within this genre has become popular, the reason for this is becasue a lot of RnB music videos have a little bit of a talking scene at the start of their video. Within these talking scenes the characters often use colloquial language, so some people find it hard to understand what they might be saying. The reason why this frame has been chosen is because, we wanted to add subtitles, but instead of just adding subtiles we thought to develop the idea and have the words in a chat format on the screen. I think this effect made the audience automatically more involved in the video has they didn't just have to watch the character texting they got to see what she was texting. We also got this idea from a the TV soap 'Hollyoaks' where they use this texting effect.
